...is not an impossibility! It's not even that difficult. You just need to follow these 5 easy steps:
1) Let your spouse play as much Guitar Hero: World Tour as he or she wants. No questions asked.
2) Let her choose the music in the car.
3) Bring her bowls of ice cream. As many as you can carry.
4) DO YOUR JOB! I have 5 yobs, the most important of which is controlling the TiVo remote so we don't have to watch any commercials.
5) Watch lots of dating/beauty-related reality shows. Just don't tell any of your guy friends that you secretly like them :)
Ok, that didn't turn out the way i had planned it. Those are tips specifically for ME. Although some of them work in just about any relationship, especially #2 and #3 :)
So, i got married! And it ROCKS. Super, super hard. Here is my favorite memory from that wonderful day (for those of you who missed it):
Summer and I had an extravagant reception in her hometown with kind of a Christmas-y/Harry Potter banquet hall feel to it--which was appropriate since the whole town was blanketed with snow. We didn't have the turnout that we had planned for because most of the major highways in Washington were closed or iced over, so instead we had a more intimate evening with about 50 guests, mostly family and closest friends. I took over MC duties because nobody else would step up to the plate, and i purposefully saved our first dance for last. However, I didn't plan on having most of Summer's family leaving early to beat the next wave of snowfall, so by the time we got around to it there were only about 5 or 10 people there. I clicked over to our song (if you want something done right you have to do it yourself) and led my wife to the spotlit center of our nearly empty reception hall. The other lights were dimmed, but i noticed that Summer's hair had fallen in her face a little. She didn't bother to brush it back--that's the low-maintenance girl i married!--so it tickled my nose when i put my forehead on hers. I tried not to sneeze. We both tried not to cry. It was beautiful and different and not the kind of spectacle that lots of first dances are. I couldn't imagine it any other way :)
